Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have waited quite a while now for the third installment of Guardians of the Galaxy. Everything was on schedule until James Gunn became a victim of what’s become known as ‘cancel culture’. Years ago, Gunn made some Twitter posts that were, pretty weird, and it led to him being fired by Disney.
Sometime later he was rehired and was put back on the project. Gunn’s return was great news for fans, as he had previously delivered two very solid films and many moviegoers want to see his vision play out in full. Gunn recently posted to his Instagram story, and let it be known that Guardians 3 will likely be his last hurrah. He also mentioned if the films continue, there might be a new team. You can check out what he had to say below.
“Probably be the last with the current team” but also cautions that “you never know.”

I would say much depends on how Guardians 3 fairs at the box-office. If it does well, and it probably will, Disney may be able to lure Gunn back with a bigger payday. Of course, that kind of compensation doesn’t always work in Hollywood, however, I’m sure there are other, non-monetary perks that Disney could use to sweeten the deal.
Even for a guy with a net worth of $50M (according to Celebrity Net Worth) the Mouse has can be very persuasive. The Mouse always gets what he wants, always.
