Joaquin Phoenix Isn’t A Fan Of Rehearsing

Joaquin Phoenix is what one might call different, unique, or even unusual. I don’t mean that in a bad way at all, it’s helped the actor be nominated for multiple Oscar awards, most recently for his turn as DC’s Clown Prince of Crime.

Phoenix recently spoke with Cinema Blend and discussed his method for filming scenes without any rehearsal, you can check it out below.

“It feels impossible to me. I dunno, it just feels so fake. The great thing about shooting a movie is shooting multiple takes, you use editing and so you grab those best moments. So I’d rather discover those best moments while we’re working than in the rehearsal process then feel like, ‘Oh that was really good, how do we recreate that?’”

When we learned he would play the Joker, it was almost inevitable that Phoenix would earn an Oscar nomination. The actor is known for losing himself into the roles he plays, deep into roles.
