John Turturro Joins The Batman as Crime Boss Carmine Falcone

Along with waiting for winter in Westeros, and enduring Rick and Morty’s extended hiatuses, the wait for The Batman has tested even the most patient nerds. The film has definitely taken shape over the last month or so, with writer and director of the film, Matt Reeves assembling what could end up being the best ensemble seen in a Batman film.

In my opinion, Reeves is building something special here with his streak of phenomenal casting decisions. With each addition, Reeves is reassuring fans that despite the film’s long road to get to this point, The Batman will be worth the wait. Over the weekend, Reeves announced via his Twitter account that actor John Turturro will play the famous Gotham mob boss, Carmine Falcon. You can check out the post below.

While Turturro has played everything from a federal agent in the Transformers films to a figment of Johnny Depp’s imagination in Secret Window, he is probably best known for playing the blaspheming bowler, Jesus Quintana, in The Big Lebowski. Though my favorite role of John Turturro’s comes from another Coen brothers film, O Brother, Where Art Thou?

The role has previously been played by Tom Wilkinson in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, and John Doman in Fox’s Batman prequel series, Gotham. Turturro joins an already stacked cast list that includes Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, and Andy Serkis.

John Turturro as Carmine Falcone? Of course. Absolutely. Not a doubt in my mind that Turturro is going to John Turturro the s**t out of this role, which as you know is a good thing, it’s sort of like Christopher Walkening the s**t out of a role, only with John Turturro.
