The latest Barside Buzz says that Jon Watts is not directing Spider-Man 4. I normally wouldn’t run a story saying who is not doing a movie, as those lists are very long. However in this instance I think fans had wondered whether Watts was still a potential choice for the director of Spider-Man 4?

It did seem unlikely and according to insider MTTSH that is the case. She says Jon Watts will definitely not direct Spider-Man 4 for Sony and Marvel.

I was able to confirm that Jon Watts is not coming back to direct Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4. Who would you like to see directing the film?

MTTSH poses the question who would fans want to see? I’ll pose the same question to our readers below. However we have had some rumors around this one already. Drew Goddard who was at one point showrunner for Daredevil Season 1 has been tipped as a choice for Marvel. For now though, no one is claiming Goddard is signed on, so this could all change.

Spider-Man 4 should begin shooting in 2024 which means Sony and Marvel do need a director soon. Scripts are being developed and we’ve spoke previously about many rumors around that development. For now, we are no further forward and likely won’t get much until the production begins. By then we should know who’s directing it though at least.

Many fans feel that Goddard has been tipped due to his work on Daredevil, who [Matt Murdock] is supposed to cameo in Spider-Man 4 alongside the new Mayor of NYC Wilson Fisk. We’ve heard the rumors that Spider-Man is moving into the street level side of the MCU going forward rather than being a big time Avenger. I think Goddard would fit that more grounded approach to a college era Spider-Man 4.

I liked all three of Watt’s Spider-Man movies, so no desire to see him replaced for any negative reasons. That being said I also think a new voice would be appropriate at this transitional stage of Spider-Man.

So like the question above, who do you want to direct Spider-Man 4? If Jon Watts is not directing Spider-Man 4, who would you choose? Thoughts/ideas below.
