Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) has made it well known throughout his career that versatility is one of his primary strengths. He’s made his mark both in front of the camera and behind it, having starred in, written, produced, and directed an exuberant amount of projects in his 30+ years in the industry. And he is only 38. This August, Gordon-Levitt (or JGL) looks to add the podcast universe to his resume.
On August 19th, JGL will premiere his new podcast Creative Processing With Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Produced through the podcasting firm Cadence13, the ten-episode series is set to run through October 22nd and feature a wide variety of guests including Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson, graphic artist Shepard Fairey, Yuka Honda, Madisen Ward & The Mama Bear, and casting director Mary Vernieu. JGL had this to say to Deadline regarding his debut in podcasting:
“I’m a big fan of the podcast format, because it provides enough time to have a real conversation. In most media, you’re forced to speak in sound bites, so you can never dive very deeply into any particular thought or idea. It’s sort of funny how nowadays, at the same time as social media is making our attention-spans shorter than ever, podcasts have risen up to offer this long-form alternative. I’ve been wanting to try it for years, and I’m grateful to get the opportunity to do so with Cadence13.”

Focusing on the creative process is not new for the multitalented entertainer. A few years ago, JGL formed HitRecord, an online artist community where members can take part in a number of projects looking for assistance completing. Some artists from the community will be featured on the podcast to springboard discussions. Chris Cororcan, the Chief Content Officer of Cadence13 added, “Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s storied career and first-hand insight into the creative process will make this series a truly collaborative experience for listeners and a great fit for the podcast space. We are excited to bring Joe’s voice and perspective to Cadence13.” Cadence13 is the company that produces the popular Crooked Media series Pod Saves America.
This is just the latest addition to JGL’s list of upcoming, high-profile projects, which include Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of The Chicago 7, Amazon’s 7500 and a Netflix sci-fi feature with Jamie Foxx. However, for a talent that has been in the business since age 7, being this busy is most likely the norm for him.
