What is a kajillionaire anyways? Is that more than a trillion dollars?
Con-artists dream big. So big that they’re always chasing that dream that’s out of reach.
In Kajillionaire, the story is about con-artists Theresa (Debra Winger) and Robert (Richard Jenkins) have spent twenty-six years training their only daughter, Old Dolio (Evan Rachel Wood), to swindle, scam, and steal at every opportunity. During a desperate, hastily conceived heist, they charm a stranger (Gina Rodriguez) into joining their next scam, only to have their entire world turned upside down.
The film’s trailer shows an odd-ball family dynamic between Winger, Jenkins, and Wood. In fact, Wood’s character seems to be missing a few eggs in a carton—leaving her entirely unrecognizable from her previous work.
Miranda July wrote and directed Kajillionaire. She has a signature comedic drama style with her previous films with The Future and Me and You and Everyone We Know. This Kajillioinaire seems to be in the same vein as those projects.
