Trying to avoid Star Wars stories the best I can (until I finally see the film tomorrow night), at least spoilery ones, I’ve chosen to bring you some unfortunate news about the state of the film, Last Friday, which for years has gestated as a fourth film of the Friday franchise. The film being realized is looking unlikely at this point.
The recent passing of actor John Witherspoon has thrown a wrench into the works of the film, with star Ice Cube saying the potential film had a lot of Witherspoon’s Mr. Jones in it and using CGI to bring Witherspoon back is not an option. Cube was recently asked on Twitter the status of the film, you can check out what he had to say below.

Back to the drawing board since New Line Cinema was slow on green lighting the LAST FRIDAY script that was full of Mr. Jones. I’ve been pissed off about it since Spoon passed away. https://t.co/wsWhPlIWQn

Ice Cube said it’s The original film is a classic. And while the sequels were subpar to the original, they were still enjoyable. Fans of the franchise would surely turn out for a final film in the series, a film that at the moment, doesn’t seem likely.
