The events of the Season 8 finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead have set up a new world on the show. Lauren Cohan’s Maggie, is primed to play a big role in that new world. Though Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus signed new contracts, fans wondered if Cohan holding out was an indication she would not return to the show, also adding to the speculation was Cohan joining the ABC show, Whiskey Cavalier. The actress recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly and confirmed her characters return for Season 9.

“I’m going back. There’s a lot more Maggie story to tell. “

As for what lies ahead for Maggie next season, Cohan wasn’t forthcoming with information.

“You know we’re not allowed to tell you anything, but it’s good.”

The show needed to make a change, the last two seasons haven’t been the easiest to watch. Where fans used to get excited for Sunday nights, watching the show seems to have become somewhat of a chore instead of a pleasure. The finale set up a coming showdown between members of our beloved group, with disagreements on how Negan was handled, mostly because Rick let him live. Maggie and Darryl were not on board with Rick’s decision and the episode ended with an ominous coversation that implied a revolution within the group was in the show’s future.
