LeBron James Producing Docu-Series Shut Up And Dribble For Showtime

Fresh off the announcement of his new school for kids and public war of words with the President, NBA superstar LeBron James will be producing a docu-series for Showtime. The working title for the series is Shut Up And Dribble, a reference to the statement conservative radio host and Fox News commentator Laura Ingraham used against him back in February. Showtime president and CEO David Nevins announced the project at the TCA summer press tour on Monday, according to Variety.

The three-part series will focus on the changing role of athletes in the current political climate. Ingraham’s comments to James, which came after players from the Golden State Warriors declined an invitation to the White House after winning the 2018 NBA Finals and after James made comments about President Trump in a reality series, seem to be used against her in this title for the series. Kicking off with Ingraham’s controversy, the series will document the modern history of the NBA and its players starting with the merger of the ABA and the NBA.

Nevins had this to say at the press tour:

“If being a star athlete is inherently a political experience, ‘Shut Up and Dribble’ tells that complex and dramatic story from the past to the present and from the inside out. LeBron James is one of many competitors whose place in the spotlight has led not to silence but perspective, and he, Maverick Carter and Gotham Chopra have given us an important, insightful docuseries that should bring their fans and fellow citizens to a higher level of discourse, rather than the dismissal satirized in the title.”

Shut Up And Dribble will premiere on Showtime in October.
