LRM Exclusive Interview – Aladdin’s Mena Massoud Talks What To Expect From The Live-Action Remake

We aren’t far away from the second live-action remake of a Disney classic to be released this year. Back in March we were treated to Dumbo, and it won’t be long before we get Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin.

LRM‘s own Gig Patta recently spoke with the actor who plays the titular characer, Mesa Massoud, and asked him if audiences should be expecting to see more similarities or differences between the original animated film and the upcoming live-action remake. Here’s what Massoud had to say

“It’s a tough thing because you’re right people often want to compare it and over analyze it, for us this is a reimagining of you know a classic Disney story that everyone grew up and loved. And for us it was just more about making the characters real and bringing them to life and making it more rellavant to thetimes we live in.”

Sounds like they’re on track. I am a huge fan of Guy Ritchie’s films, and who among us doesn’t love the classic Disney animated films? Ok, I’m sure there are some of you out there, but most of us do love them.

When Disney finally gave fans a look at Will Smith’s genie, the reception wasn’t very warm. Personally though, I have nver had a problem with Smith’s genie, I never expected he would try to impersonate the great performance of Robin Williams in the original, and I think he will do a fine job.
