Marvel Comics To Resume Releasing Books Starting May 27th

It’s an understatement to say that comic book shops have been hit hard during these last few months. Some have gotten very creative with social media to keep their head above water. Not only have shops been forced to close their front doors but publishers temporarily stopped shipping new books. Lucky for shops and readers alike it looks like slowly things are going to start evolving into a new normal. With DC announcing that they were going to start releasing books, Marvel has also done the same.

Marvel Comics has announced on Friday that they are planning to resume releasing comics starting on Wednesday, May 27th. They will be available in both print and digitally. Marvel Universe fans will once again be able to continue following their favorite characters and creative teams. Marvel Comics plans on keeping a balanced schedule for its releases as the industry continues to restart distribution. They plan on continuing to release new books in the most thoughtful way as possible for fans, creators, and the industry. Noting that these are unpredictable times and that shops will need to adapt new social distancing guidelines as they re-open.

I am very happy to hear that comics are slowly going to be rolling back out. I think it’s an essential distraction in very uncertain times where the news every day does nothing more than confusing the masses. Although it may seem silly characters like Captain America and Superman inspire hope to many readers. One thing I notice is that for obvious reasons the amount of books they are releasing is a lot less than usual. My question is how long will that last? Or could this be a lasting change going forward? How long before we see another large batch of number ones and variants? I am excited to get back on track with Immortal Hulk. Make sure you go out and support your local comic book shops!
