Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead On The Possibility Scott Pilgrim Sequel

A comic book that was adapted into a film that plays out like a video game. Or the long-form way of saying Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. What a fun little gem of a movie, with an unorthodox hero that you just can’t help but love. Skinny and awkward Scott Pilgrim must win the right to date the Lady Ramona Flowers, and to do that he must defeat her evil ex-boyfriends in combat.

Michael Cera, who plays the film’s titular character says that he would be up for reprising his role at Scott Pilgrim in a sequel. The actor recently spoke with ComicBook.com and you can check out what he had to say below.

“For me, that ‘well’ would just mean being around that group again. It was such a great group. Fortunately, we all do get together and it really was like a great band or something and we all loved being around each other and that happens, obviously, less and less, but when the movie was coming out and even a few years after that, we were all hanging out quite a lot.”

Cera isn’t the only cast member who is keen on a sequel, Mary Elizabeth Winstead also seems to be on board and has a kick-ass idea of where to take the film.

“You know what, I think that would be so cool. I would be so curious to know what happened to these characters when they’re in their mid-30s as opposed to the sort of 20 slacker thing. So I think it would be really interesting. We always talked about a sequel when we were doing it, but we always imagined it would be like, still like a year later. Where are they? But I think it’s way more fascinating to know where they’d be 10 years later. I’m down for it.”

The film for me was in some ways was a modern technological medieval quest in which a squire is an underdog in a series of battles against more experienced and far more formidable knights, and the whole thing played out like a video game, hat more could geeks ask for?
