Michelle Pfeiffer Confirms Return For Ant-Man 3

Today we share the news that Michelle Pfeiffer confirms return for Ant-Man 3. I think we fans could have all guessed that Janet Van Dyne would return to the MCU. Why bring a character back and not use them? However it’s nice to have Pfeiffer confirm she is returning along with Michael Douglas as her on-screen husband Hank Pym.

Pfeiffer really hasn’t had much time to shine thus far in the MCU. Janet returned to her family only at the climax of Ant-Man and the Wasp, and then was immediately snapped by Thanos and died for 5 years. So Ant-Man 3 will present the first real opportunity for Pfeiffer to define the role of Janet Van Dyne. The legendary actress recently spoke about her return. Check that out through Discussing Film in the social media post below. Source is Ladies First with Laura Brown.

As the post says, filming for Ant-Man 3 is set to begin in Spring of 2021. Right now, the only returning characters we really know of are the Pym family and Scott Lang. I’m guessing we will also see more of Lang’s family and friends in the sequel. Anything else we have hard falls into the rumor category. Some of those rumors have Ant-Man 3 stuffed with enough new cast members to create a Young Avengers team. I don’t currently have an opinion on those rumors, I’ll just wait and see. I really enjoyed Ant-Man, however I found Ant-Man and the Wasp to be very, tame. Yes, I think tame and safe are good adjectives to describe Ant-Man and the Wasp. So breaking the mold with Ant-Man 3 would in my opinion be no bad change.

I would like to explore the new family dynamic’s in play though. We have the Lang’s story. Scott kinda was the catalyst for saving the Universe, meanwhile his daughter lived for 5 years with no parents, then his ex-wife and her husband came back after 5 years dead. That’s gotta mess everyone around right? It’s not as if the Pym’s are much better. Janet was trapped in the Quantum Universe for decades, then rescued to find a fully grown daughter. Then, the three of them died for 5 years and were brought back thanks chiefly to Pym’s onw technology.

I guess I’m saying there is drama to be had there without adding everyone and their aunt. However, we shall see? Michelle Pfeiffer confirms return for Ant-Man 3, does this news make you a happy MCU fan? Thoughts below as always.
