Military Veteran Vincent Vargas In FX’s Mayans MC

There’s been quite a history of former military service members stepping foot into the entertainment world when their tour is over. From the likes of Dale Dye and R. Lee Ermey to Rob Riggle, Rudy Reyes and Adam Driver, there are a number of veterans making their marks in film, television, and others avenues in the industry. Veterans finding good, fulfilling employment is beneficial both to the men and women who have sacrificed for the nation and for the country’s economy. Employment availability in the entertainment industry gives veterans with the desire the ability to channel their creativity.

One of those veterans is Vincent “Rocco” Vargas. After his service, Vargas set his sights on the film industry, both behind and in front of the camera. After appearing in the comedy/horror film Helen Keller Vs Nightwolves, Vargas went on to appear in another horror/comedy, Range 15, and a drama, Dark Of Light. Now, Vargas will be appearing on the FX series Mayans MC, the spin-off to their popular series Sons Of Anarchy, which ran for seven seasons.

Mayans MC will take place after the events that occurred in Sons Of Anarchy, a gritty and immensely entertaining motorcycle club series inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Vargas is billed as Gilberto “Gilly” Lopez and, according to IMDb, will appear in at least two episodes, but that could change when the show finally airs. To be one of the main members on a primetime cable series is a big step not only for this actor, but for other vets who have made the jump to the screen and are trying to succeed.

Mayans MC premieres Tuesday, September 4th on FX.
