Now, not long after the release of the video game, Mortal Kombat 11, comes news that the franchise will soon have a chance at redemption on the big screen as the long overdue Mortal Kombat movie reboot now has actual movement.
Variety is reporting that the James Wan produced film will start pre-production this month in South Austrailia, a word from Australian politician Steven Marshall follows below.
“Mortal Kombat will be the largest film production in South Australia’s history and highlights the importance of engaging with the world’s major production houses. The state government’s investment in Mortal Kombat will enhance the scope and reach of our production and post production capabilities, bringing the promise of fantastic new jobs for the local film industry.”

The Mortal Kombat films of the 90s were just awful. I enjoyed them as a kid, but as I got older I realized how bad they were. It’s been a long time coming, but with someone like Wan behind the project now, it shouldn’t be too much longer before fans get a new Mortal Kombat adaptation, and likely one that is far more worthy of the franchise.
