In a recent interview for the return of Picard, Patrick Stewart hints that he and Ian McKellen could reunite in the MCU. Does that mean we will see Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in Deadpool 3? We also have an insider claiming, well, just that. Speaking with ET and asked about McKellen’s reaction to his Doctor Strange cameo, here is Stewart’s response.

“Actually, it went very well. He did say something like [‘Hey, I would’ve done this!’], yes that’s true,” Stewart said, before hinting that there may be more Professor X and Magneto to come. “But we’re not done, Sir Ian and myself. We’re… we got plans.”

Given there had already been a lot of speculation about the possibility of more FoX-Men characters showing up in Deadpool 3 this is intriguing. Though, we do now have scooper MTTSH claiming the pair are both back for Deadpool 3 and Secret Wars.

I do admit I’m struggling to imagine any substantial cast leaks for Secret Wars at this point. At this stage the movie likely only exists as a text file on a few computers, and yet MTTSH claims she knows who is in the movie? I know MTTSH has a good record, but I’m struggling with this one. Deadpool 3 is a complete different ball game though and perhaps this is legit. Stewart isn’t great at the flat denial game, so him teasing there’s more for him and McKellen makes me think there has been actual talks and maybe even agreements made.

Thing is, I;m really not that keen on the idea. I can’t wait to see a newly cast X-Men show up in the MCU. I have almost zero interest in seeing more of Stewart and McKellen in the roles because there is no where to go. Do they just show up to die for laughs, or for cameo sake? The idea of Jackman returning for one last hurrah with Reynolds sounds fun, but having the whole X-family back I’m less keen on.

Of course it would depend how it all is handled. I just kinda think, give me the new X-Men and I’ll be excited, give me the old ones and, less so.
