Patty Jenkins delivered a gem for DC and Warner Bros. with last year’s Wonder Woman. A sequel was always inevitable and yesterday we learned from Jenkins that Wonder Woman 2 will be a totally different, yet similar film to the original, having many of the same same elements, but able to stand on its own. Speaking recently with ET Canada, Jenkins was asked about the possibility of the original screen Wonder Woman, Linda Carter:
“We’ll see. Lynda is one of the dearest people to us, has been a great mentor and dear friend. And we actually desperately tried to get her in the first one and we had the scheduling that couldn’t work, so she’s always been a part of our Wonder Woman family. We won’t say anything yet, but we certainly–there’s no lack of trying.”
From Jenkins comments, it seems likely that this time around we will get a cameo from Carter as long as their isn’t a clash in schedules. I think it would a nice gesture to give Carter a scene, but for me it wouldn’t really affect my overall opinion of the movie. Being too young to have watched the Wonder Woman series from the 70s, I don’t really have an association with Carter as Wonder Woman.
