Paul Bettany’s mystery actor confirmed! However, prepare to be disappointed if you were one of those fans hoping to see Al Pacino turn up. As started to become clear to me last week, Bettany was trolling the fans with his comments. If you remember Bettany talked up a surprise cameo with an actor he has never worked with but greatly admires. The internet theories went wild, then we realized that Bettany was also playing White Vision and the troll began to look clear.
Now we have confirmation from Bettany, that indeed he was trolling us fans. Bettany appeared on GMA, and in the video below you will see Bettany confirm he was joking.
“Yeah, you know when you think something’s gonna be funny, and you say it, and then you actually panic about it. [That’s] what I did because fans started guessing who it might be, and they were guessing people like Benedict Cumberbatch or Patrick Stewart, and I was thinking, ‘God, that’s a good idea’ and they’re gonna be so disappointed when they find out it’s me.”
Asked if it’s possible he’s trolling everyone again?
“Well, you know, I’d love to answer that question, but my service keeps…” Bettany then pretends he is frozen!

To be fair, I think it’s better that Bettany puts this out there now. I am also not spoiler tagging this because clearly Bettany wants this information made public before tomorrow’s finale. Equally, the rumor I talk about further down, is merely a rumor, even if I happen to think it’s solid.

With White Vision no longer a secret, this might lower fans expectations for the finale. However, it is interesting that Bettany mentions Benedict Cumberbatch here. It’s only rumors, but scoopers I trust have claimed Cumberbatch will make an appearance this week in WandaVision. These are old claims from when WandaVision was shooting, so I’ve always just assumed they are true. The insiders who leaked this have been right with almost all their other WandaVision scoops so far.
However Cumberbatch was always ruled out as a ‘candidate, because he’s worked with Cumberbatch before. Therefore, I will say I think that Paul Bettany’s mystery actor was simply just Paul Bettany. However, I do still think Doctor Strange is going to show up in Westview, even if only in the post credits. However, who really knows until we check it out tomorrow?
