Today I’m going to talk about two rumors spreading that really don’t have any sources. One that Rey is back in Star Wars at some point soon. Secondly that Batman might appear in The Penguin series. Now, if you follow the rumor mill you’ll see both of these cropping up. So far I cannot find a credible source for these rumors beginning, so I’m covering them only to pass on the facts, which are limited. I make no comment on whether either of these could or will happen. I just don’t see the same connections some fans are running with.
We’ll start at the start.
Rey Back In Star Wars?
Remember we’ve heard some rumors recently that Damon Lindelof’s upcoming movie will be set post-The Rise of Skywalker. There have also been rumors that movie could feature some characters from the sequel trilogy. However there’s been nothing specifically rumored about Rey. We know Daisy Ridley visited Lucasfilm recently, and that’s what really got fans speculating wildly. The we have the tweet below from THR‘s Brian Davids.

Now I’m not saying this is nothing. However I’m also not ready to say Davids is specifically hinting at Rey being back in Star Wars. Of course that’s the buzz since this tweet was posted. I’m not saying it will or won’t happen here. I’m just saying that as far as I am concerned this is not enough for a Barside Buzz article on it’s own. If someone makes a specific claim like Davids with his credibility, then I assure you we will give it a lot more attention.
Batman In The Penguin
If you thought the Star Wars news was tenuous, then you’ll really press F to doubt on this one. This rumor is building from one fact alone. Actor Robert Pattinson was spotted, and photographed, in New York City this weekend. The Penguin is about to start filming in New York City.
That’s….it. I can’t even give you a link. If you follow Battinson on social media, you likely already know he’s currently in NYC. Now I don’t know about you, but there’s surely no way a famous actor would be seen in such a backwater place as New York City unless they were there for filming, right? I mean that’s like seeing him in LA, right? Okay, sarcasm aside, that’s about the only link I can find for this rumor. There are a million reasons a famous movie star might be in NYC at any point in time.

Now, that’s not to say there is no Batman in The Penguin. I actually hope Pattinson does show up. I’ve always believed there’s value in showing Batman as an antagonist from the villains POV. You can’t really do that in a Batman movie, but you could do this in a Penguin TV series. Therefore, do I want this to happen? Yes, but that doesn’t mean this is a legit rumor. It could be, but we’d need a bit more than what we have here to get excited about it.
