Robert Grasmere and Raoul Bolognini Talk Temprimental VFX With Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar [Exclusive Interview]

Oftentimes, many of us don’t realize the effort of visual effects in a film.

A film like Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar has hundreds of visual effects with a simple comedic narrative film. The effects range from the recreation of animals like alligators, mice to water waves and even to the culottes.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with VFX producer and CEO and VFX supervisor Robert Grasmere of Temprimental VFX, the magical artists behind Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.

Temprimental VFX is a global company that provides visual effects for film and television. Their offices are located in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Vancouver, London, Montreal, and Atlanta with artist and vendor partnerships in Asia, Australia, and Europe.

Most recently, they worked on Barb and Star Go to Vista Del mar that Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo starring as the title characters.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Take a trip and break out of your shell with Barb and Star. Lifelong friends Barb and Star embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they decide to leave their small Midwestern town for the first time ever. Romance, friendship, and a villain’s evil plot.

The cast also includes Jamie Dornan, Damon Wayans Jr., Fortune Feimster, Wendi McLeandon-Covey, Rose Abdoo, Vanessa Bayer, Phyllis Smith, and Kwame Patterson.

Some of the other projects from Temprimental VFX, included Slender Man, Underworld: Blood Wars, Blockers, Sinister, Antebellum, and Netflix’s Desperados to name a few.

Raoul Bolognini has over 100 visual effects projects under his belt. Most recently, he produced or supervised very notable projects, including Antebellum, Desperados, The Glorias, The Grudge, and Where’d You Go, Bernadette.

Robert Grasmere has dozens of visual effect projects under his belt and traveled the world to capture crazy things to mimic real-life on-screen from the Arctic Ocean to a remote village of Mexico or into the jungles of Thailand. Some of his recent projects included Where’d You Go, Bernadette, Above Suspicion, Booksmart, Gone Baby Gone, and The Zookeeper’s Wife.
