Ryan Reynolds’ Clue May Be R-Rated, Says Writers Paul Wernick And Rhett Reese

Ryan Reynolds has become synonymous with Deadpool, and rightly so, they are one in the same. However, Reynolds does from time to time work on other projects. One such project is a remake of the classic 80s film, based on the popular board game, Clue. Working with Reynolds on the film are Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who are writers on the Deadpool series. During an interview with MTV, Reese and Wernick revealed that the Clue film may be R-rated.

Wernick:

“Don’t be surprised if Clue is an R-rated… Potentially.”

Reese:

“It will have elements of [the original movie], but it’s important that we don’t try and just rehash it. We want to build on it. We want to take some of what makes it fun and funny, but then we want to do our own thing. It’s about finding that balance. Hopefully we don’t upset the Clue-hounds because there are a lot of them apparently. We didn’t realize this until we signed up.”

An R-rated Clue sounds like fun to me. Wernick and Reese have shown they know how to balance crude humor with a good story and perhaps the most important element, heart. I hope the studio allows Wernick, Reese, and Reynolds to see their R-rated vision though, not that I am obsessed with vulgarity, but an R-rated film just affords the filmmakers so much more freedom.
