According to some reliable insiders Sauron’s original form is to be played by Gavi Singh Chera in The Rings of Power Season 2. The information comes from FoF, whom you are probably aware has a good hit rate and genuine connections to this series. They claim that Sauron’s original form will be shown, presumably when he was known as simply Mairon. Singh Chera will play both this version in past and the present according to the claims.
Annatar is also said to be on the call sheets for Season 2, but the insiders cannot confirm if Annatar is also played by Gavi. Annatar is Sauron making himself look as fair and good as he possibly can. One could possibly even say he’ll have an angelic air to him, given that is what he is. Ergo, it would make sense he uses his old form from Valinor before he was led astra by Melkor. Therefore, I’d guess Annatar is merely Mairon of old in physical form. However, that is not the leak, just my guess.

The insiders group says that when shown in the past Sauron will have long hair, but Gavi had short hair when filming his present scenes. It will be interesting to see how much we get of Singh Chera and how much of Charlie Vickers who played Sauron’s Human form of Halbrand. As you can see below, it seems the show will finally adapt the story of Annatar aiding Celebrimbor in the forging of the other great Rings. Sauron then, possibly still as Annatar, distributes those Rings to others to ensnare them all in his trap whilst he forges the One.

I wasn’t the biggest Season 1 fan, the whole hidden Sauron crouching Galadriel thing was badly handled for me. Both from a story and a lore perspective. I also didn’t like the whole Mithril thing, that it must be used to create Rings of Power, nor how it was first formed in their show mythology. Also not a fan of fGandalf showing up, which seems to be the case, though that’s unconfirmed.
I guess I’ll give Season 2 a try and see how it goes. It is still set for release sometime in 2024, my guess later.
