Secret Invasion Will Differ From Comics Says Kevin Feige

According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Secret Invasion will differ from the comics. Whilst there were some rumors, the Secret Invasion Disney+ show was a shock when it was announced at the recent Disney Investor Day.  Fans immediately started wondering how similar this version of Secret Invasion would be from the comics. In the ‘Secret Invasion’ comics, it would be fair to say that the cast of characters was gargantuan. It felt like every character in Marvel was involved in that Secret Invasion storyline. Additionally the comic book version of the Skrulls are very different from the Skrulls we met in Captain Marvel.

So the question came up when ComicBook.com recently spoke to Marvel Studios Kevin Feige.

“Well, there were more characters in the Secret Invasion comic series than there were in Endgame so, no,” Feige admits. “It’s not that but it very much is a showcase for Sam Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn and tapping into the paranoia elements of the ‘Secret Invasion’ comic series that was great with the twists and turns that that took. So, that’s certainly our focus more than, ‘Can we cram in more characters than Endgame? like publishing?'”

One would guess this Secret Invasion show will tie in closely to Captain Marvel 2 given all the current connections. I imagine Carol still keeps close ties with the Skrulls she rescued and of course Fury, now he’s back from the dead and all. So the question remains why would the Skrulls we know of be looking to invade Earth. This was what the Skrulls were accused of by the Kree and we know that was not the case. Instead the Skrulls are merely trying to hide as best as they can.

There could also be some connections between the Skrulls and the Deviants from Marvel’s upcoming Eternals movies. The Deviants are also described as being shape shifters and they had connections within the comics I am told. Though, lets face it, would you watch buddy cop movie starring Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn? I know I would, so this sounds great to me.

Are you happy Secret Invasion will differ from the comics, or annoyed by it? As always leave us your thoughts where you can.
