Sony has Enlisted Marc Guggenheim To Write Jackpot Feature Film For Spider-Man Universe

According to Deadline, Marc Guggenheim is penning a script for a live-action adaptation of the character Jackpot for Sony. The film will join a growing list of projects that the studio has in development as they hope to realize their planned Spider-Man shared universe. Guggenheim is no stranger to the comics, having credits on film, television, video games, as well as co-writing the Spider-Man: Jackpot comic with Brian Reed.

Jackpot, was a scientist named Sara Ehret who was exposed to the virus known as Lot 777.  The virus rewrote her DNA while she was in a coma, and pregnant. She came out of the coma with superstrength. She gave birth to a daughter, Madeline, without any issues. Sara’s crimefighting days didn’t last long as she simply wanted to be a regular mom. A woman named Alana Jobson took up the mantle of Jackpot along with Sara’s identity, allowing Sara to return to normal family life.

The news comes on the heels of learning the character Madame Web will also be joining the Spider-Man Universe. Some of the other projects heading our way are Morbius which will star Jared Leto, A Kraven the Hunter film, and of course the upcoming Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

I really don’t know what to say about this as I’ve never heard of Jackpot until today and as such am unfamiliar with the character.  She just seems like an obscure character to be given a feature film without having made an appearance in the film of another hero first.
