According to the latest Barside Buzz, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has a casting call for teachers, plus a rumor that it’s a prequel to Doomsday. As will all rumors, pinch of salt, however, first off let’s look at the casting call. This information comes from Daniel RPK on Patreon. I do buy this because Daniel’s info on casting calls for Sony movies has always been spot on.
The insider says a casting call has gone out looking for actors to play teachers in the film. Given Peter is now out of high school, it seems likely we are talking about college lecturers/professors.
Our second rumor I’m less sure about and it comes from Alex Perez at TCC. The insider claims (or guesses) he’s heard Brand New Day will take place before the events of Avengers: Doomsday.

My one criticism of Alex is he speculates and doesn’t make it clear when things he posts are not inside information, but his own thoughts. My guess is, that this is his guess, rather than a scoop. However, only Alex can answer if that’s the case or not?

Why not a prequel? I mean, it could be, what do I know? But the one credible rumor we have heard previously is that Brand New Day takes place concurrently with the events of Avengers: Doomsday, effectively explaining Peter’s absence from that film, whilst leaving him open to feature in Secret Wars. So one source saying sequel and another maybe saying prequel?
Marvel surely learned from Ant-Man and the Wasp? The movie didn’t do that well because everyone knew it was set before/during Infinity War. Would they really do the same thing again for Brand New Day? Well, it might work better when the middle movie is a Spider-Man movie? I mean, in itself, a Spidey film is almost a guaranteed hit.
I guess we will just have to wait and see for now? Fans are still hoping for that Daredevil street level movie. However, D’Onofrio (Fisk) says he can’t appear in movies and is not in Brand New Day, so maybe that’s now unlikely?
