Star Wars: Luna Hypes Andor -The Acolyte Sets Built In England

In a double helping of Star Wars news Diego Luna hypes Andor and The Acolyte sets built, or being built, in Berkshire, England ahead of shoot. First off let’s talk Andor and star Diego Luna who says the show will challenge what you think you knew about Cassian Andor’s story. Honestly, watching Rogue One I’m not sure I had time to have a backstory in my head for Cassian. However here is what the star had to say when he spoke with THR.

Luna Hypes Andor

“In fact, we’re going to challenge every idea you have, or every answer you came up with, for why or how things happened and why this character did what he did,” Luna tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Everyone who watched Rogue One thinks they have the answer. So we’re going to challenge that, and we’re going to come to you and say, ‘No, listen, things were not the way you imagined. They were this way. This had to happen for someone to become the person you know.’”

Does everyone who watched Rogue One think they have the answer? Why didn’t anyone tell me? Luna also talked about reprising this character after playing him in Rogue One.

“So it took time, but it was fascinating at the same time because I was relearning a language and relearning to communicate. It was very interesting and very unique, like no other job, and being far away from my house during such a difficult moment was very intense in many ways. But even when things seemed impossible, we found a way to shoot the series and make sure it was safe for everyone. So it was a reminder to ourselves that what we do matters.”

There’s a lot more in that interview, though nothing we haven’t heard Luna or Gilroy discuss already. Check out the link above for the full piece.

The Acolyte

Amanda Stenberg Officially Cast In Star Wars: The Acolyte SDCC '22

As for The Acolyte we have news from a local site in Berkshire, GetReading.co.uk. The site has a few images up of open sets being built in the Shinfield studio complex which we know will be where The Acolyte films. It’s a good bet these sets are being built ahead of filming. The studio has filming on this show booked from October, though principal may not begin right away.

I cannot share the images, however there’s honestly nothing to see. If you didn’t know this was a studio, yo’d just assume a new mall or cinema complex was being put up. However it may be interesting to find out what’s going on down there come October/November this year.

Previously LRM has reported on rumors that The Acolyte will also do some location shooting up in Rannoch Moor, Scotland. However there was never any question they’ll spend as little time as they can in that wilderness. There’s no humans around that area, so it’s beautifully timeless. However the lack of any human settlements also makes for a lack of creature comforts. The same will not be true down in the Berkshire area of England.

Let us know what you think as Diego Luna hypes Andor and The Acolyte sets are built for filming. As always, leave any thoughts below. Oh, and for anyone wondering, The Cantina  (Star Wars podcast)will be back next week. We couldn’t manage to record this week sorry.
