Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s ‘Broom Boy’ Was Disappointed His Character Didn’t Return

Broom Boy, this character’s appearence at the end of The Last Jedi was the topic of much debate among Star Wars fans. While most of us knew he wouldn’t be an essential character of the Skywalker Saga, we wondered what his display of the Force meant for the franchise as a whole.

Were you expecting the character to return in The Rise of Skywalker? If your answer is yes, you may find comfort in knowing that Temirlan Blaev, the actor who portrayed the character on film, also wanted to return. Blaev recently appeared on Jamie Stangroom’s YouTube channel and discussed wondering if his character would return for Rise of Skywalker. You can check it out below.

“I wasn’t sure because it could have been, yes, he would’ve continued my story, how Rey would have trained me or helped me in some way. But then at the same time, am I really that important? Am I someone big or am I really just a boy, a lucky boy in a galaxy far, far away? A lot of people were asking me [about returning], and I said, ‘We’ll have to wait and see if I get called back. But I guess I kind of understand why it happened.'”

For me, that scene plays out as saying that no one is special and that everyone has the Force in them. I don’t like that. I want people to be special. If everyone had the Force, then users of the mystical energy which surrounds and binds us, well they wouldn’t be special, would they? There’s wouldn’t be any reason to tell their story over anyone else.

I wish Blaev the best of luck in his acting career.
