Stargate Revival Unofficially Announced?

It has been over 7 years since Stargate received an actual new season—that’s right I’m calling the web series Stargate Origins out. In a world of reboots, it seems a little strange to not bring back a popular show that was canceled too early with a devoted fanbase.

However, that wait may be soon over as Teal’c’s actor Chris Judge revealed at ComiCONN this past weekend. At a panel LRM attended, he discussed everything from his role in God of War, a brief appearance in The Dark Knight Rises, to his time on the popular science fiction show. The details weren’t plentiful, but he did reveal some signs that were able to be read by the fans attending the panel.

Judge revealed that there would be a panel at San Diego Comic-Con where cast members of the series would “talk about the series.” While this doesn’t sound that promising in writing the inflection of his voice inspired much confidence with those in attendance. He went on to say that he got a message about the San Diego convention shortly before arriving on stage and didn’t have too much time to look through it. Finally, Judged stated that he would be in attendance for that panel along with other cast members but didn’t specifically state who would also be present. There likely will be little information revealed about the revival of the series until two weeks from now so the validity of this will have to be taken with a grain of salt for now.

Luckily for fans, Judge said he would be totally on board if there was another season to the series stating that he loved the character—despite not being able to have hair for years. While golfing with Adam Baldwin recently they were discussing whether or not the series should continue with both being on board for continuation. Baldwin has played many parts in science fiction television series but his role as David Dixon who made his debut in Stargate SG-1 Season 2. With two actors being on board it is very plausible that more cast members will be on board making this series more related to the classic show rather than recent incarnations.

What this show will entail is still to be seen but seeing the continuation of the long-running series is a nice sight. With there being a series last year that dives into the origin of the series it is unlikely this will be a hard reboot. A soft reboot is very likely given the time gaps in the seasons which could bring back the old characters for a new journey through the cosmos. The distribution model also wasn’t stated though that will likely come after the series is actually announced. If the series were to air on television instead of streaming services like Netflix or Hulu it would likely be on the traditional home of the series Syfy. With the series not being officially announced I would target 2020 for the revival of the series if it were to happen.
