Stephen Knight Expected To Submit Draft For New Jedi Order Movie Soon

We shared a rumor that the title of the Rey Sequel was Star Wars Episode X: A New Beginning, however this has been debunked.

According to a very credible source, new writer Stephen Knight is expected to submit his draft for the New Jedi Order Star Wars movie soon. As we know, Knight was hired to rejig the script initially in development by Damon Lindelof and partners. We’ve heard a few details about that script already. In fact, we even know some key changes that Knight has been tasked with making.

Rumor is that Lindelof’s movie dealt with a much older Rey. That version of the movie would not have therefore used Daisy Ridley. Whilst some of the same concept looks set to appear, this new movie will use Daisy Ridley. We know it is set around 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker as per Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

However, a writers strike happened and that meant delays in anything Knight could produce. That writers strike is over, though the movie cannot be cast until the SAG-AFTRA strike ends. Well, according to StarWarsNewsNet, who don’t really do gossip and rumors, that draft should be expected soon.

‘Well, while they didn’t get into more specifics, sources in the know say this end-of-October/Thanksgiving due date is in the ballpark of Lucasfilm’s actual plans. So it seems fair to assume that by the Christmas break, Lucasfilm will at least have read the new script, and likely given notes as well.’

Now the outlet then goes on talk about a rumored title which has popped up. There were some vague rumors that the title may be for the moment Star Wars: A New Beginning. Whilst that seems to work thematically, I don’t like it and I do not believe the rumors. Many sites reported the news as coming from Star Wars Meg. However, in actual fact Meg was just covering a rumor she had picked up elsewhere.

I would not be surprised to see this title is being used by Lucasfilm as a placeholder. However, studios rarely choose a title till the script is approved. Here is what SWNN had to say on this.

“Per sources, Lucasfilm hasn’t decided on a title for the film yet and is more focused on getting the actual story right for now. I hear that saying this is the title as of today is absolutely incorrect, but at some point, a shortlist of possible titles will be considered, and “A New Beginning” is not out of the question. Does that mean that there is already a list that includes it? I personally wouldn’t be surprised, but couldn’t find out.”

Finn?

Last little rumor I’ve seen buzzing around this weekend is that Knight is developing two versions of the script. One that included John Boyega’s Finn and one that does not. Boyega simply hasn’t seemed keen to reprise that role again. Though perhaps he is quote wisely waiting to see how good the script is before signing on. Certainly given Finn’s likely role as Rey’s first student, it would be weird if he’s just ghosted.

I guess we will see how it plays out? This New Jedi Order Star Wars movie will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy

What do you think of the news writer Stephen Knight is expected to submit his draft for the New Jedi Order Star Wars movie soon? Thoughts below as always.
