The Elder Scrolls VI Gets MASSIVE Leak — Headed For 2024 Release Date? | LRM’s Barside Buzz

I’d say we’re about due for another Elder Scrolls game, don’t you? I mean, it’s been, what, nine years since Skyrim took the world by storm? In the nearly nine years since the game hit, it’s sauntered onto virtually every console under the sun. Recently, it even ventured onto the handheld Nintendo Switch, which really highlighted how far things had come as far as technology was concerned. What was once a home console experience could now be taken on-the-go for the first time, which was exciting.

But still, fans waited for Bethesda to actually bring a new Elder Scrolls game to the table. How long would they have to wait before having another experience to get lost in? Just how many generations of consoles would they skip? Well, today, we may have our first peek at what’s to come.

The Preamble

Of course, this is all just a rumor — and an unverified one — so take it all with a grain of salt.

The post came from the conspicuously-named Throwaway13579 on the Elder Scrolls wiki. Here’s what the poster wrote as a preamble to the actual details.

“So first of all, I’m sharing my info here for a number of reasons. Months ago, I leaked an unrelated game (which I was later exactly right about) on Reddit and got several media inquiries and completely shit on for the leak in the comments. Fandom communities are smaller and less toxic than Reddit, so I trust you guys not to put me through that again, lol. This is a great forum for TES fans, and you guys are exactly the reason I’m sharing my information, so it only makes sense to do it here.”

Title and Setting

So, what details did Mr. Throwaway have to share with us? Well, they started off with a title — The Elder Scrolls VI: Redfall. This isn’t new news. Back in 2018, there was a trademark from Bethesda with that subtitle, but it was denied at the time. This does seem to indicate Bethesda was fibbing about the whole thing, which is to be expected. Anyway, the game takes place in High Rock and Hammerfell six years after Skyrim.

“The general political scene will be that Hammerfell is very well off and in a relatively stable state (by Tamrielic standards) while High Rock is much more fractured among the many nobles and their territories.”

The Scale and Scope

The leaker goes on to say that Bethesda wants to use the hardware to create epic scenes with dozens, or even hundreds, of characters battling in real-time. They go on to state that Orcs play a huge role in this game, and that one story quest has hundreds of Orcs burning down a city. From what they hear, “think the siege on Whiterun from Skyrim times 10.”

Bethesda is also supposedly going to allow players to control ships. Building off the mechanics developed for Starfield, these ships will allow players to traverse the expansive land.

“They’ll range from a rowboat to a big four-sail pirate ship. They all can be crewed by NPC’s in the same way that the player can assign NPC’s to different jobs at settlements in Fallout 4.”

Daggerfall will be the biggest city crafted by Bethesda in the game. But don’t just expect cities like the ones in Skyrim. They are learning from their contemporaries including CD Projekt Red “for creating the feeling of a dense, bustling city, but are also trying to maintain their motif where every character truly lives there and has a schedule and will do activities as they see fit.”

As far as quests go, Bethesda is shooting for wholly unique quests. This is so that gamers don’t get bored of repeating fetch quests. The post discusses a quest where they babysit Khajiit children. The children wreck the house and are rude to the player.

“Upon the mother’s return, she’ll be furious with the player,” the leaker claims. “A speech check can calm her down, or the player can antagonize her to the point of combat, in which case the kittens can later be found in the town’s orphanage.”

While this is still very much at the conceptual stage, it does indicate there are lots of choices and consequences.

The Release

Previous claims had the game set for a 2025 release. This leaker claims it’s on course for a Q4 2024 release. Though, it’s worth noting that even if he is right, studios are notorious for delaying games.
