THE FLASH Rumors: Who Could The Scarlet Speedster Be Going Up Against In Standalone Film?

This past week has been something of a treasure trove for DC fans. In addition to the news that Deathstroke would be the main villain in the upcoming Ben Affleck-directed standalone Batman film, there were rumors floating around that the standalone Flash film, starring Ezra Miller, would feature the Rogues as the main baddies of the piece.

For those unfamiliar, the Rogues are a band of villains for the Flash. In essence, these are dudes who, by themselves, are kind of lame, but with forces combined, they actual are a decent threat to the likes of the Scarlet Speedster.

Like any organization or group in comic books, these guys have a rolling roster, and the lineup has included such baddies as Captain Cold, Heat Wave, the Trickster, Pied Piper, and Captain Boomerang.

This rumor, which was first shared by Heroic Hollywood, didn’t really include any information on who may be joining the fray under the moniker the Rogues, but Jeff Sneider has recently posted a rumor on Twitter as to who the lineup may include.

That’s right, Leonard and Lisa Snart may be on their way to the DC Extended Universe. This wouldn’t be their first live-action interpretations, however. Fans of the CW show The Flash have already experienced the duo (along with Heat Wave) taking on Barry Allen and STAR Labs in a number of episodes, and to great effect. The characters have since transformed from supervillains, to begrudging allies, and (in Captain Cold and Heat Wave’s case) reformed heroes.

Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and Golden Glider have all been utilized in the live-action CW series, The Flash.

If it’s not obvious, I love the idea of the Rogues being the main antagonistic force in the Flash movie. Given that there are rumors of Cyborg being at Flash’s side in the film, it’d be nice to see them take on more than one villain. Additionally, I see this as an opportunity to bring Captain Boomerang back into the mix. I loved every second of him on screen in Suicide Squad, and would love to see his interaction with the Flash.

Add in Captain Cold and Golden Glider, and I think you have the potential for some real gold here. What’s more is you have an opportunity to expand that rogues gallery once more to include villains that can be used later on down the line.

What do you think of the Rogues joining The Flash, and what do you think of Captain Cold and Golden Glider heading up that group?

Let us know your thoughts down below!

The Flash hits theaters on March 16, 2016.
