The Mandalorian: Rosario Dawson Talks About The Day She Was On Set With George Lucas

Not only did actress Rosario Dawson join the cast of the darling of the Star Wars universe in The Mandalorian, and bring to life one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars franchise, in Ahsoka Tano, she also had the pleasure of meeting the man who started it all, George Lucas.

During an interview with Vanity Fair Dawson explained that she was on set, as Ahsoka, on the day the now-famous photo of Lucas holding Grogu was taken.

“I actually got to be there on the day that there’s that photo. Someone took a picture of George Lucas holding Baby Yoda. I’m still calling him Baby Yoda—Grogu! I was there that day. I was all dressed up, I was just off to the side of that photo, all done up as Ahsoka. And I remember it broke the internet when that picture came out. It was just an amazing, amazing moment, and we were all beside ourselves. It was definitely very geek-out.”

Dawson goes on talking about being on the set with Lucas.

“I was definitely nerve-wracked, and it was great to be there with him and Dave. I mean, it’s a lot of pressure. But it was also really fun. Both of them were looking at me but they weren’t, you know what I mean? They were looking at their imaginations come to life.”

Dave Filoni mentioned Ahsoka has a larger quest, so it seems as if we haven’t seen the last of her. I didn’t we had, but it’s nice to get that word from Filoni as some reassurance. Now whether that means we’ll see her in future episodes of The Mandalorian, or a series of her own, or both, remains to be seen. I would love for both to happen.
