When The Office comes home to NBCU’s Peacock streaming service next year it’s going to have a little something extra (cue Michael Scott’s favorite innuendo phrase). Some episodes of the beloved sitcom will be extended, seeing content that was removed for one reason or the other added back into the show.

Much of the content has previously been available at the NBC website (after the episode initially aired), on Netflix, or was included on DVD. However, there will be never-before-seen footage. Chairman of Peacock and NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises, Matt Strauss:

“We will be reintroducing The Office in a more complete way, incorporating elements that were not part of the original broadcast.”

I love the show. For me, it’s comfort television. Oftentimes the series plays in the background as I am looking around the Internet, or writing a news piece. The series was a longtime powerhouse for streaming giant Netflix. In fact, I know more than one person who basically pays for Netflix simply to have access to The Office.

The series is of course an American remake of a British series of the same name, created by comedian Ricky Gervais. The U.S. version of The Office is one of the rare instances where the American remake isn’t total s**t. And some folks even like it better than the U.K. version. I am a fan of both versions of the series.

Oddly enough, the series I’m currently rewatching is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. And as I started to write this article, the episode with Andy Buckley, who played the world’s most patient man on The Office in Dunder Mifflin corporate executive David Wallace, just happened to be on. Far out man.
