The Reason Why David Ayer Wants His Suicide Squad Cut Released

Everyone knew that if the Release the Snyder Cut movement ever succeeded, there was going to be others that popped up. Some that come to mind are for franchises like Game of Thrones and Star Wars. Another one that quickly popped up was 2016’s Suicide Squad by David Ayer.

We all know how much Warner Bros. loves tinkering with the DC films. Especially after the reaction that 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice got from critics and some fans. This caused them to panic and try and make their films lighter. Before they butchered Zack Snyder’s Justice League, they first took apart Suicide Squad.

Ayer was a team player throughout the theatrical release of the film. But it was very evident that it wasn’t the film that he had intended to make. Both critics and fans hated the film as it lacked any kind of cohesiveness. Then a few years later, James Gunn was brought in to make the next Suicide Squad film with a lot of returning cast members. It would seem like we would never get to see what Ayer was envisioning.

Never say never! Thanks to the Snyder Cut of Justice League coming to HBO Max, there is a Dumb and Dumber chance that we could see Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Over the weekend, Ayer gave us his reason via a response on Twitter, on why he wants his cut of the film released. You can check it out below!

Like any other artist, Ayer just wants his best work shown. It must be terrible to see something with your name on it that had been taken apart by the studio. He doesn’t even care if it’s years away, he just would like the same opportunity that Snyder got.

It would be exciting to see his cut of the film. I would be interested to see what his original intentions were and the proper development of the characters. Also, although I wasn’t a big fan of Jared Leto’s Joker, I would have liked to some more of the scenes that he had for the Clown Prince of Crime. Maybe if the Justice League release does well on HBO Max, they can keep it going with Suicide Squad down the line.
