The Rings Of Power Fake Leaks Update Plus Wizard Training | Barside Buzz

Following the conclusion of Season 2, the Rings of Power showrunners explain their Gandalf decision and it makes no sense.

We have a The Rings of Power fake leaks update from a good source, plus some new rumors around Wizard training in Season 2. The information comes from FoF who themselves claimed a few weeks ago to have discovered a misinformation campaign from Amazon. The leaks site/group announced they would be going through a thorough fact checking exercise on all their scoops from Season 2. They said they still felt confident in their information and would report back.

Well, now they have reported back.

So I guess that means one of those 14 leaks above was incorrect. However, FoF are saying they will explain the story behind it at a later date when they reveal which one. If that truly is an interesting story we will cover it on LRM. If it’s not, well…

I did say at the time that I felt like FoF would be fine. I did however immediately point to some crazy rumors posted by TORN as being the likely false flags. That may have in part been hope, I never bought that the show would make so many grave errors as those leaks claimed. However, I guess that remains to be seen for now. Hopefully we will get Season 2 sometime this Fall or even late Summer.

Wizard Training

We also have a new rumor from FoF about Wizard training. According to the group, The Stranger, who could be Gandalf, or a Blue Wizard, meets another Wizard on their travels who trains him up like Apollo Creed licking Rocky Balboa into shape. Perhaps they will even play Eye of the Tiger to get us in the mood for a montage?

I will have a few issues with this if Apollo Creed is not an Istari/Wizard. Why do we have all these beings (the weird witches from Season 1) who have magical abilities? In reality Tolkien’s mythos has no ‘magic’ as such. Those who do display what appear to be magical properties tend to be Angels, or demigods. If the Stranger is Gandalf, then it would make sense he meets one of the Blue Wizards.

However, I still dislike the idea this is Gandalf. For me it undermines a key story from Tolkien’s own pen. In the mythology the decision by the Valar of which Maiar to send as emissaries was detailed. I like that Gandalf, (or Olorin to give him his old name) was scared to have to face Sauron. Yet in the end that’s why Manwe personally chose him. I think it also adds a layer to the relationship between Saruman, proud and confident, and Gandalf, cautious and careful. Though Saruman was sent as the ‘leader’ of the Istari, Manwe indicated Olorin was not being sent as a subordinate. It’s subtext that elevates the main story.

Tolkien himself played with the idea of the two Blue Wizards being sent much earlier, during the Second Age. Hence why I would be fine if The Stranger is one of them. However, if that is the case, then who would be training them? Surely both Blue Wizards were sent together? The farther Rings of Power goes from Tolkien’s mythology, the worse. He genuinely was a genius at adding depth and weight to his myth’s. Season 1’s change to Mithril alongside the lack of any explanation for why Sauron was on that sinking boat to begin with, left me feeling uneasy. The Mordor key just made me laugh, so that’s a different issue.

I’ll likely give Season 2 a chance. However, I’m hoping the overall feel flies closer to what Tolkien gave us in his mythology.
