
There are countless amounts of counterfeit money in circulation in the United States. With current technology, the art of counterfeiting is being more difficult to distinguish to trace.
In Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller, the National Geographic’s documentary journalist travels to South America, more specifically to Peru, to see how this underground network operates.

Here’s the description of tonight’s episode:
Mariana journeys deep inside the Peruvian underworld to meet the gangster craftsmen who make and sell the world’s finest counterfeit U.S. dollars. Along the way, she learns that many of these counterfeiting operations are run by criminal families in Lima, who are making a fortune despite the anti-counterfeiting efforts of the U.S. Secret Service and the Peruvian National Police.

For the exclusive clip, Mariana enters a Peruvian prison to interview a counterfeiter, who was caught in the act. He revealed why he entered the business.
Counterfeiting is the third episode of the original documentary series that explores the complex and dangerous inner-workings of the global underworld.
New episodes premiere Wednesdays at 9/8c on National Geographic Channel and then on its site at www.nationalgeographic.com.
Each episode is captivating with its story-telling, but it really gives an in-depth view of how the underground system works and why people enter these criminal enterprises.
