Trailer: Cate Blanchett Goes Missing In Linklater’s Latest Where’d You Go, Bernadette

Richard Linklater is the master of the grounded human drama. His films are dramatic, but they’re never really needlessly heavy. His stuff has a tendency to be experimental and very indie…at least most of the time. While he may have made a name off of his more down-to-earth stuff, we can’t forget this is the same guy who made the Bad News Bears remake and The School of Rock. It looks like that director is making a return to form.

The next film of his coming out is called Where’d You Go, Bernadette, and it features a great cast, including the wonderful Cate Blanchett, who plays the titular Bernadette. While the premise sounds like it could be the start of a dark thriller, this movie goes off in a decidedly more fun direction, which I’m okay with.

Below is the official synopsis for the film:

WHERE’D YOU GO, BERNADETTE is based on the runaway bestseller about Bernadette Fox, a Seattle woman who had it all – a loving husband and a brilliant daughter. When she unexpectedly disappears, her family sets off on an exciting adventure to solve the mystery of where she might have gone.
