It is the annual “showcase of the immortals.” The Mecca of sports entertainment where the WWE’s top superstars put on an hours-long extravaganza. A modern theatrical performance in the form of punches, grapples, and slams in a squared-circle. In what used to be an event just over three hours long, the event has evolved into a seven-hour epic (including the two-hour “kickoff show”).
It was an honor for me to live-tweet the event for LRM, combining my enjoyment of entertainment news with my longtime love of professional wrestler. As a loyal supporter of WWE’s Attitude Era (roughly 1997-2002), my focus on the industry has fluctuated throughout the years—from watching religiously every week to only catching the latest developments online and through social media. I will say that with what occurred yesterday at WrestleMania 35, I’ll be paying a bit more attention from here on.
Highlights include Becky Lynch winning both the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championships in the triple threat main event (the first time in history a WrestleMania main event was a women’s match), Kofi Kingston upsetting Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship, and Seth Rollins dethroning Brock Lesnar to become the Universal Champion. With that said, here are the results of WrestleMania 35:
Tony Nese defeated Buddy Murphy to become the new Cruiserweight Championship.
Carmella won the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal, eliminating Sarah Logan.
Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins defeated The Revival to become the new Raw Tag Team Championship.
Brain Strowman won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, eliminating Colin Jost.
Seth Rollins defeated Brock Lesnar to become the new Universal Champion.
