According to the latest Barside Buzz, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania scribe Jeff Loveness is out as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer. That’s the breaking news that insider Jeff Sneider claimed to have just gotten on his latest The Hot Mic Podcast. Loveness was officially writing the script for The Kang Dynasty, with Michael Waldron penning the script for Secret Wars. However, it is possible that the poor performance of Quantmania has caused tremors in Marvel Studios.
Sneider says he’s heard Loveness was out as the writer before the WGA strike began. In other words, this is not just him striking like all other writers. Sneider does say this is unconfirmed, which to me makes me think this is only from one source at Disney. Sneider and co-host John Rocha go on to speculate. Mostly on whether the negative reviews for Quantumania, which Loveness admitted affected him, perhaps caused the Studio to decide to just go another way?
Frankly Marvel’s plans are a bit over the place for once. Remember we still have some major delays to be announced by this year and it will likely push out Secret Wars by years. Plus, we have the current Jonathan Majors situation and Marvel went into him as the next big bad heavily. We have some more Barside Buzz around that story later today folks. So watch for that!

It’s kinda hard to have an opinion on this that doesn’t feel like bandwagon jumping. I watched Quantumania for the first time this wee on Disney+ because reviews and word of mouth from friends was poor. The movie has some issues to be sure, But i cannot say they are all script based. One of the better aspects of the movie is Majors turn as Kang also, so there’s that connection already there.
I guess like most fans I just want The Kang Dynasty to be as good a movie as it can be. Without being on the inside and seeing the drafts of the scripts, all we can do is hope Marvel is making the best calls with this.
