We bring you folks some sad news from the long-running and Emmy award-winning sitcom Modern Family. The lovable bulldog who was the love of the family patriarch Jay Pritchett has sadly passed away. The focus of a handful of episodes, the pooch was a lovable addition to the show’s cast.

While the doggo was loved by Jay Pritchett, it took some time for his wife Gloria to come around, who initially was not a fan of the bulldog named Stella. While Jay Pritchett certainly took the dog as his own, it also took the character some time to realize how much he loved the dog.

The animal actor, Beatrice portrayed Stella from the fourth season to its current farewell season that is currently airing. Replacing another canine thespian, Brigette. Both were very cute dogs and thoguht of as part of the Pritchett, and even the Dunphy famiies.

I think Modern Family is one of the most brilliantly written network sitcoms over the last twenty years, and very much deserves the Emmy awards it has garnered over the years. Clever, funny, and although we never learn why the family is the subject of what seems to be a reality show, the premise worked well.
