While Dave Bautista has quite vocal with his opinion on the James Gunn situation, the rest of the cast hasn’t been as outspoken. Well, today we get word from Chris Pratt, who spoke with the Associated Press, while doing a very Chris Pratt type thing, meeting with disabled athletes. Here is what Pratt had to say about the controversy surrounding Guardians, which revolves around the firing of director James Gunn after a series of controversial tweets were uncovered:
“It’s not an easy time. We all love James and he’s a good friend of ours, but we also really love playing the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s a complicated situation for everybody. And you know, we just want to move forward and do what’s right and be the best people we can be.”
“I love going to Comic-Con but I ended up not doing a lot of interviews around that time just because it was so shocking. All I know is we put a lot of time, thought and effort into the statement that we released about it. And I think we all kind of want that statement to be essentially what we have to say about it. And we were pretty clear and honest about how we feel,”
The joint statement from the cast was indeed very supportive of Gunn. These days it is hard to comment on situations like this, even if you’re not the offending party, one could find themselves in a similar bit of trouble if their comments are taken the wrong way. The whole thing really is a social minefield, and unfortunately for Gunn, he stepped right on one.
