With nostalgia being popular these days, nothing has really been off limits. One franchise that remains untouched is Back to the Future. Heavily loved throughout nerd culture the time-travelling franchise’s return yet to be seen. One of the stars of the film series, Christopher Lloyd, says he would love to be a part of a fourth installment of the franchise.

“I’d be delighted. I’d love to be in a fourth film, if they could come up with the right idea that extends the story and does it as well as the first three.”

Llyod continued saying that filmmakers would have to find the right story.

“It’s important if Bob Zemeckis and Bob Gale are excited about doing another episode. I think, really, the most important thing is if they can come up with the right idea. I think that’s the challenge is to come up with something that really is as good as the originals,”

As for the likelihood of a fourth film, Lloyd had this to say:

“I suppose it could happen. I have not heard that they’re looking for that, if they’ve made up their minds… ‘Hey, here’s something we could do,’ and they believed in it then they might get going to do it.”

One question would be the involvement of Michael J. Fox, perhaps he could appear in a limited role, as he has done some acting since his diagnosis of Parkinson’s diease. It wouldn’t really be Back to th Future without him.

I think the first Back to the Future is one of the best films of all time, as well as being one of my favorites. Where it resides on that list is of course up for debate, but I think it at least belongs in the conversation, the sequels not so much, still fun and entertaining, but not of the same quality.
