Daisy Ridley Says Next Star Wars Film Pushes The Story In a Different Direction

According to the latest Star Wars Barside Buzz the Rey Sequel movie is currently casting three major roles.

In a recent Q & A Daisy Ridley says her next Star Wars film pushes the story in a different direction. Ridley also describes how much of a shock it was when she was asked to come back by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. As you likely already know a sequel to The Rise of Skywalker starring Ridley as Rey is in development currently. The last we heard Steven Knight was taking a shot at the script and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set to helm the movie.

We already know a few vague details about the plot. It’s fifteen years later and Rey is now trying to rebuild the Jedi Order and train students.

That’s not really a pitch for a movie though is it? I mean what drama does Rey face, and are there threats to this New Jedi Order out there? For now we know nothing else, but Ridley teases the story going in a different direction.

“So I thought about it for a little bit and once I knew what the story was and everything, I knew it was something I really wanted to do,” Ridley revealed to AlloCiné. “I think it’s a really fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world. It’s a really cool way of taking the story on in a bit of a different direction.”

Ridley has not read the script, but the story pitch itself was enough to get her to agree to come back.

“That was actually quite last minute. I was actually making my own film last year and Kathy Kennedy said she wanted to have breakfast,” Ridley detailed. “And I thought we were just having breakfast, so I was literally eating my breakfast, and she said, ‘Oh, we might do another one.’ I was like, ‘…Okay.'”

This was after Kennedy explained a little of the story to Ridley. However, until a finished script is handed in and approved, filming cannot take place. As Ridley said in a previous interview we shared, she has no idea currently when the movie films.

What do you think of her comments as Daisy Ridley says her next Star Wars film pushes the story in a different direction? What would you want to see from this movie (not allowed to cancel it for a tax write off)? Share any ideas below.
