On Sunday morning during the halftime show of the Women’s World Cup Final Match between the USA and the Netherlands, viewers were gifted with a special treat from Disney Studios. Live on Fox, Disney premiered the trailer for the live-action remake of their animated classic Mulan. You can see the trailer in the link provided above.
From the opening and throughout the entire ninety seconds, the teaser displays a production filled with beautiful cinematography, elaborate action scenes, and a dedication to detail. Yifeu Lu (The Third Way Of Love, The Assassins) plays the titular role of the daughter who poses as a male warrior in oder to fight for her father. Also featured in the teaser is veterans Li Gong (Memoirs Of A Geisha, Miami Vice) and Tsi Ma (Rush Hour, Arrival). Additionally, the score featured in the teaser contains elements of the original animated classics composition.

Directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider, The Zookeeper’s Wife), the cast is filled with inclusive talent that features Jason Scott Lee (Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story), Donnie Yen (Ip Man), Rosalind Chao (The Joy Luck Club), Ron Yuan (Marco Polo), Xana Tang (The Let Down) and Jet Li. With that level of talent led by Lu, mixed with the seemingly gorgeous settings and emotionally-driven action, Mulan is bound to be an exciting Disney blockbuster for the entire family.
Mulan is slated for a March 2020 release.
