George R.R. Martin’s Nightflyers Trailer Hits

Nightflyers is a an upcoming TV series on Netflix and Syfy (Syfy in the U.S. and Netflix overseas), the show is based on a novella by a certain George RR Martin. You may have heard of him from such novels as Game of Thrones. Nightflyers was first published in 1980 and it has already been adapted into an awful low budget movie. But now Netflix and Syfy are on the case, we should expect to see something more fitting the work of GRRM’s original novella.

I find it hard to analyze this trailer too accurately, but the fact that I like Martin as a writer and I like a good sci-fi series means I will be giving this a shot. Below is the official synopsis for the show.

Set in the year 2093, Nightflyers is a psychological thriller that follows a team of scientists aboard the Nightflyer, the most advanced ship ever built, as they embark on a journey to find other life forms. Their mission takes them to the edge of the solar system, and to the edge of insanity, as they realize true horror isn’t waiting for them in outer space-it’s already on their ship.

Martin himself has not been heavily involved in the adaptation of this story for Netflix, he is rather busy working on up to four spin-off series for Game of Thrones, whilst supposedly finishing the long-awaited next installment of his A Song of Ice and Fire series called The Winds of Winter.

Are you excited to see what Netflix can do with Nightflyers, has anyone read the novella that has any strong opinions on the story? Share all your thoughts in the comments below.
