Henry Cavill Wants To See Brainiac On The Big Screen

Brainiac one of Superman’s best villains may be making his move to the screen as Henry Cavill mentioned he’d like to see the character while promoting Mission Impossible. A follow up to 2013’s Man of Steel has long been speculated to be in the works for the DCEU but nothing concrete has been established to date. With the Man of Steel, himself, openly commenting on a sequel the wait to see Big Blue in a solo film once again may be shorter than you think.

“I think a great villain would be Brainiac, that’d be a good villain to play against, Brainiac’s a big threat. There’s a lot of fun. There’s a lot of storylines to him.”

Brainiac is one of Superman’s oldest regularly recurring antagonists debuting in Action Comics #242 which was released in 1958. Since then there have been many variations and takes on the character but the essence is that he collects Kandor along with surviving cities of destroyed worlds. Along with Kandor also has a fascination with Superman being the “last” of his kind. Like Lex Luthor, Brainiac employs tech to combat Superman though he employs higher grade machines as his intellect outpaces the Earth’s smartest person.

There are many options to go with when implementing Brainiac in Man of Steel 2 but going with Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s “Brainiac” storyline could work. Having Brainiac hide behind copies of the character would lead to a larger threat for the overarching universe. Casting will be crucial as DC will need to set up worthy villains moving forward.

Let us know your thoughts. What is your favorite Brainiac storyline?
