Kevin Feige Talks How Wolverine’s Final Moments Inspired Marvel To Give Tony Stark A Similar End

While Marvel’s Cinematic Universe has had its own share of firsts, Fox was actually the first to nail the swan song of a Marvel Character. Logan sent Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine off in epic fashion, properly honoring everything Hugh Jackman had put into the character over the last 17 years.

Not to be outdone, Marvel took inspiration from Wolverine’s end in Logan and aspired to give Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark an emotional exit on the same level as Wolverine. Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige recently talked about how the end of Logan influenced Tony Stark’s last scenes. You can check out what he had to say below.

“We saw Logan like the audience did, in a theater having nothing to do with the making of that film and went, ‘oh my god, what an amazing ending for Hugh as this character.’ And there are only a handful of examples where an actor so associated with a character can go out perfectly. That’s what we desperately wanted to give Robert, and that was what our focus was on.”

I can’t really choose one over the other, they’re both about as perfect for the repsective characters as can be. Logan’s passing was only felt locally, while Iron Man went out saving the universe on a cosmic scale, though the both carried a similar leve
l of emotion impact and satisfaction.
