A British tabloid claims Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown courted for a Star Wars role. As with all tabloid’s we’ll mark this as a Barside Buzz for now until something solid appears from a trade. However it goes without saying to take a hefty dose of sodium with this one. The Mirror said:
I can reveal the Star Wars fan has held secret talks with Disney executives – and could have a £12million payday.
Millie, 18, and her father and manager Robert are already friends with franchise boss Kathleen Kennedy.
A source tells me: “Millie is on Disney’s radar for the new Star Wars projects.
“She’s had contact with Kathleen, who is aware of her desire to feature in a movie or play a central role in one of the new TV projects for Disney Plus.
The conversations are informal but there’s huge mutual respect there.
“The Disney executives know just how much of an icon she is already for the 10 to 30-year-old audience and what that brings in terms of appeal. She could easily take home $15m for a first film or series.”
“And she doesn’t need to audition – it’s more a case of how the director and her bond. She has the gravitas to hold down the lead for that universe.”

Now there have been many fans, myself included who wondered whether Millie Bobby Brown was born to play a younger Princess Leia. However that time has passed, MBB is now only two years shy of Carrie Fisher when she filmed Star Wars in 1976.
In another Universe, one with a proper sequel trilogy, someone would have hired MBB to play the daughter of Han and Leia. However the star would certainly be I think most welcome as a brand new character in whatever is being cooked up in the Lucasfilm imaginarium. There are obviously plenty of streaming opportunities with the MandoVerse and beyond. However perhaps even more attractive may be the upcoming movies.
Next up is Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie and so far there has no rumored casting for that project. I think I’ll wait till I hear this from someone I know has inside access to Lucasfilm before I get too hyped about it. MBB is a fantastic young actress though, and she is going to go on and have a phenomenal career I think.
