It’s looking like we are getting a Spider-Man 4, at some point. However the Spider-Man: No Way Home writers have no clue about Spider-Man 4, yet. It’s pretty clear from conversations we have already reported that the will to make another Spider-Man trilogy is there between Sony and Marvel. However np deal is officially in place and I get the feeling based on his recent comments that star Tom Holland will be looking for a pay rise this time around. As for writers Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers, when they spoke to Famdomwire recently they revealed they no nothing about a potential Spider-Man 4.
“This is one where we don’t have to say that we’re not allowed to say because we truly don’t know. To my knowledge, I’m not aware of any future projects in the works,” they explained. “That doesn’t mean they don’t exist, but that’s nothing that you know anyone has talked to Chris and I about. I certainly hope so, I love Tom as Spider-Man. I hope there’s more, and I would love nothing more than to be involved. But at this point, we don’t know.”

This absolutely makes sense. Not to say Marvel will 100% hire the pair again for Spider-Man 4, but even if they do it’s too soon. The pitch will begin likely at the level of Feige and Pascal, but probably only after a deal has been struck between Disney and Sony. Once the producers have an idea of what they want Spider-Man 4 to be, they will then recruit writers. It’s probably only at this point that McKenna and Sommers would be contacted. Again, that’s if Sony and Marvel decide to go with the same writers. There’s no guarantee of this for a new trilogy in a new era of Peter’s life.
The take away here is that there’s no change to the status quo. Everyone wants a Spider-Man 4, including both Studios. But until the numbers people do their thing, nothing is official and therefore cannot move forward.
Spider-Man: No Way Home writers have no clue about Spider-Man 4, but that doesn’t mean it’s not coming, or that they are not involved. As always, leave any thoughts you have below.
