Fans of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty are used to long hiatuses between seasons, but the wait for the fourth season of the popular show may be the longest yet. Speaking with Detroit Cast, Rick and Morty writer Ryan Ridley, says it is possible Season 4 won’t premiere until LATE 2019:

“As far as I know, no one is working on the show. I’m certainly not so I don’t know whats going on I haven’t heard anything. They really take their time. I never understood why everybody — all parties, Dan [Harmon], Justin [Roiland], and Adult Swim — didn’t get their s**t together, and make the show fast; I just don’t get it. It doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m sure they all have their reasons.”

Ridley continued:

“We got done writing Season 3 in November of last year and here we 11 [now 13] months later, yeah so, and then I know how long the show takes to write, let a lone animate, so its just like, I’d be surprised if there was a fourth season on the air any sooner than 2019, then late 2019.”

That is a bummer, though it really isn’t surprising, it was more than a year between the first and second seasons of the show and an even longer wait between the second and third seasons. I never really thought that the breaks between seasons would get longer, I figured the process would be streamlined and the waits would actually get shorter, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
